Hello, I am Leah. My name means weary. I am the eldest daughter of Laban and the sister of Rachel. Jacob is my husband. He is also my cousin, my father’s sister’s son.

Jacob loves Rachel. He does not love me. I can see why. She is beautiful to look at. I am plain and have week eyes. Also I believe the deceitful trick of my father has caused Jacob to draw away from me. My father promised Jacob that he would give Rachel to him to marry. When the time came for their marriage I was given in her place. Jacob was angry, so father let him have Rachel also. A week later my sister became my husbands wife.

I have six sons. Ruben is my first born his name means "behold a son" because the Lord had seen my misery. I thought now surly Jacob will love me. Simon is my second son. His name means "hearing" for the Lord heard that I was not loved. Levi means " adhesion" for I believed my husband would become attached to me when he saw yet a third son. My fourth son is Judah meaning "praise", for this time I praised the Lord, and did not seek only my husbands affection. Issachchar my fifth son means "hired" for God had rewarded me by giving me my hire. My last son, Zebulun means honor. For God had presented me with a precious gift

As each son was born I saw Gods hand in my life. With each name that was given to them I looked less and less for Jacob’s love and found the love of my God.

I have chose to love Jacob even though he does not love me. I will stay with him and show him love trusting God fully and looking to him to meet my needs. By Gods hand I will bloom in this garden where He has planted me.
