WHAT CHARACTERIZES A TRUE SERVANT?
Servants are trustworthy - Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Matt 25:21
A Servant is someone who will be called the greatest: But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. Mark 10:43-44
A Servant is obligated to serve his master and be loyal - And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own? No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Luke 16:12-13
A Servant Serves Christ in freedom Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather. For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant. 1 Cor 7:21-22
A Servant Sees himself as a servant to all men For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. 1 Cor 9:19
A Servant Seeks to please God first As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. Gal 1:9-10
A Servant Does not strive, apt to teach, gentle, etc: And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 2 Tim 2:24-25
A Servant shows a Balanced leadership Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: 2 Peter 1:1
Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, Romans 1:1
A Servant recognizes God-given authority: For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. John 13:15-17
...The servant is not greater than his lord...John 15:20
A Servant Works continually: And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. Luke 12:42-44
