Luke 16 The Accounting Department of Heaven
EVERY STEWARD MUST GIVE AN ACCOUNT TO GOD FOR USE OF THEIR
GOODS - 16:1-2
Stewards must give an accounting - give an account
Stewards are watched by others - accused unto him
Stewards are held to a higher standard - no longer steward
EVERY STEWARD SHOULD EXAMINE HIS RECORD AND ADJUST
- 16:3-4
Personal examination is a necessity - said within himself
Stewards must also seek for an answer - What shall I do?
Stewards must recognize what they have been given - taketh away from me the
stewardship
When stewards fail, they are ashamed - I am ashamed
Stewards plan for the future - they may receive me...
EVERY STEWARD SHOULD AMEND HIS WAYS, RECOVER - 15:5-7
Stewards determine the cost - How much owest thou...?
Stewards make haste to be good stewards - Take thy bill, and sit down quickly,
and write fifty... Take thy bill, and write fourscore.
THE LORD HONORS THOSE WHO ARE GOOD STEWARDS -
16:8-10
When we make things right, God commends - the lord commended the unjust steward,
because he had done wisely:
Those in the world system seem to know more about the world system and how it
works, than God’s people - for the children of this world are in their
generation wiser than the children of light.
Being Faithful in the Smallest Area, Demonstrates Your Character and
Faithfulness in Larger Areas - And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of
the mammon of unrighteousness;
Make good use of the lord’s funds - that, when ye fail, they may receive you
into everlasting habitations.
Be faithful in every area of stewardship as a testimony to the lord - He that is
faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much...
It is the wisdom of earthly men to manage their money to have a benefit of it in
the after life. Therefore, they gain the more charging interest, buy land, and
invest.
We should learn from them and make use of our money so that we may be the better
off in heaven. So cast it upon the waters as that we may find it again after
many days, Ec 11:1. We ought to use the Lord's goods properly and dispose of
them among our Lord's people for their advantage.
*The things of this world are the mammon of unrighteousness, or the false
mammon, not only because they are often obtained by deception and fraud, but
because those who trust to it for satisfaction and happiness will be deceived.
Riches perish, and will disappoint those that raise their expectations from
them.
*The mammon of unrighteousness is not to be trusted to bring happiness. However,
it is a servant or tool in our pursuit of that which is our happiness.
Though we cannot find true satisfaction in wealth, but we make ourselves friends
with it.
*The habitations in heaven are everlasting, not made with hands, but eternal, 2
Cor. 5:1. Christ is gone before, to prepare a place for those that are His. He
is there ready to receive them. The poor saints that are gone before to glory
will receive those in this world who distributed to their necessities.
*We should use the mammon entrusted to us for the honor of God and the good of
our brethren.
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust
in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to
enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute,
willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation
against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. I Tim. 6:17-19
GOD COMMITS GREATER BENEFIT TO HIS CHILDREN, WHEN THEY ARE
FAITHFUL IN SMALLER AREAS - 16:11-13
The Lord entrusts funds and blessing to those who have been faithful with
earthly mammon - Verse 11
Credibility in the future depends upon faithfulness of the present - Verse 12
We must be servants to God and not mammon - Verse 13
