Luke 12:42-48 How Much Have We Been Given?
But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
The greater the power and opportunity entrusted to us, the greater is our level of responsibility and effectiveness in the world. Ignorance does not excuse us. We are stewards, and it is the steward's duty to know his master's will.
What Has Been Entrusted To our Care?
Salvation by grace through faith - Eph. 2:8-9
Forgiveness of Sin by the blood of Christ - In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Col. 1:14
An Eternal home in Heaven with Christ - John 14:1-3
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Knowing the Will of God For Our Lives - Eph. 5:17
Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
A Sure and steadfast hope in the future - Titus 2:13
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
The sting of fear and death has been removed - I Cor. 15:54-55
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
What Should We Commit Ourselves To?
Walking in the power of Christ daily (personal strength)
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Phil. 4:13
Walking in holiness and fear each day (personal growth)
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. I Pet. 1:16
Witnessing for Christ daily (personal evangelism)
Rom. 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Maintaining our personal testimony daily (Personal success)
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; Phil. 1:27
The More We Are Committed, The More We Are Asked to Accomplish! Never complain about having too much to do for Jesus. Be a good steward of our time.
