Impressing God - Luke 18:10-14
TWO DIVERSE LIFE STYLES - 18:10
*Each Men Had The Same Need (They View Themselves Differently) -
Two men went up into the temple to pray;
*Each Men Had A Different Notion (They Viewed Life Differently) -
“The one...the other -
*Each Men Had The Same Nature (They Viewed Faith Differently) -
the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
HUMAN POINT OF VIEW REGARDING GOD AND MAN - 18:11-12
*A Wrong View of Ourselves Corrupts Prayer - The
Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee,
*A Wrong View of Ourselves Leads To Judging Others -
that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as
this publican.
*A Wrong View of Ourselves Distorts Our View of Salvation -
I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I
possess.
GODLY POINT OF VIEW REGARDING MAN AND GOD - 18:13
*A Good View of Self Reveals God’s Greatness - And the
publican, standing afar off (makroqen)
*A Good View of Self Leads To Wisdom and Humility -
would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven,
*A Good View of Self Reveals Our Nature and Need - but
smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner (tw

GOD’S POINT OF VIEW REGARDING MAN - 18:14
*God’s Omniscience Knows Man’s Need - I tell you, this
man went down to his house justified rather than the other:
*God’s Omniscience Knows Man’s Heart - every one that
exalteth himself shall be abased;
*God’s Omniscience Knows Man’s Reward - for and he that
humbleth himself shall be exalted.
