Philippians 1:27   The Conduct of the Believer

THE CONDUCT OF THE BELIEVER - Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: - 3:18-21.   Conversation is politeuesqe, meaning to be a citizen, to administer civil affairs, manage the state, to make, be, or create or behave as a citizen, to conduct one's self as pledged to some law of life.

becometh” is ayiwV, meaning to be suitable or worthy.  Let our lives as citizens of Glory, show proper behavior, and be pledged to our new lives in Christ.  The Gospel of Christ deserves the very best we have to offer.

Our manner of living should be consistent with the great truth of the Gospel of Christ.  We represent Him and are ambassadors on His behalf.

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, Eph. 4:1

That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Col. 1:10

As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children, That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. 1 Thess. 2:11-12

Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.  1 Thess. 4:1

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.and exhorts them to holiness of life. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 2 Peter 3:10-11

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.  2 Peter 3:14)

THE CHARACTER OF THE BELIEVER - That whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs...  2:12-13

*Character is revealed by what I do in secret - cleanse thou me from secret faults. Ps 19:12

*Maturity is revealed by what I do in my free time - …so teach me to number our days, so that we may apply our hearts to wisdom. Psalm 90:12

Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,  Eph 1:15

Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,  Col 1:4

But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:  1 Thess 3:6

Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints; Philemon 1:5

For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.  3 John 1:3-4

THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE BELIEVER - with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; - mia yuch sunaqlounteV - Pres Act Ptc -

Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
Eph. 4:3-6
