SERVANT

2:7  ABut made himself of no reputation@ ekenwse - set aside the temporary exercise of His power and rightful sovereignty, and the use of some of His attributes.  Empty, make empty, of Christ, he laid aside equality with or the form of God. 

 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass...Zech 9:9

 

I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.  Isaiah 50:6

...he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.  He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.  Isaiah 53:1-3

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.  2 Cor 8:9

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.  Heb 2:9

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Heb 12:2

AAnd took upon Him the form of a servant@ - Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth...Isa. 42:1

 Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.  Isaiah 52:13

 ...by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.  Isaiah 53:11

 And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it.  Ezek 34:23-24

For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.  Mark 10:45

AAnd was made@ -  become,  arise, appear in history, come upon the stage,  men appearing in public.

 AIn the likeness of men@ - omoiwmati - that which has been made after the likeness of something, image, resemblance, such as amounts almost to equality or identity.

 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.  John 1:14

 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;  Romans 1:3

 Rom. 8:3  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.   Gal 4:4-5

 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;    Heb 2:14

 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.  Isaiah 7:14

 For unto us a child is born, ...and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  Isaiah 9:6

 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.    John 1:1

 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.  Romans 9:5

 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh....1 Tim 3:16

 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;  Titus 2:13

 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power...Heb 1:3

 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.  Heb 13:8
