FIND THE RIGHT PERSON TO FOLLOW, Phil. 3:15-17

 BE THUS MINDED: Be Identical in Thinking:

Phil. 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfectosoi oun teleioi - Perfect means to be of full age, wanting nothing necessary to completeness, having spiritual integrity and virtue, fully grown, adult, or, mature

 be thus minded - touto fronwmen - Pres Act -  Identical in thinking and spirit. Our condition should be mature, of full age, fully grown.  *Our conscience should be tender to His leadership

 The context of this statement is found in Phil. 3:12-14, pressing toward the mark.  We ought to have the same thinking as those who have their lives in spiritual order and are in good shape spiritually. 

2 Cor. 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

John 17:23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

1 Tim. 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: 

and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, - eterwV froneitePres Tense 

 God shall reveal even this unto you.o qeoV umin apokaluyei - Fut Act - make known or unveil a great truth or important purpose.  The one true living God will help you to identify those who do not follow the principles that were being taught by Paul.  The Lord will reveal the character of the people that He wants us to follow, or imitate.

 Phil. 3:16  WALK WITH THE SAME ATTITUDE: Be Instructed by those you trust:

 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, - eiV o efqasamen - Aor Act Ind – at the level of our maturity, we are also obligated to the same principles of life.

 let us walk by the same rule, - tw autw stoicein kanoni - Pres Act Inf – correct attitudes should prevail - our learning should humble us.

 I Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 

let us mind the same thing.If we all have the correct attitude, that will be the tenor and personality of our church body.

Phil 3:17   FOLLOW and MARK THOSE WHO SET THE SPIRITUAL EXAMPLE:  Be Imitators of those who set a good example - Brethren, be followers together of me,

summimhtai mou ginesqe - Pres Mid Imperative - Imitators of those who are spiritual - our discipline teaches us to mimic. 

 Heb. 6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.  

and mark themkai skopeite - Pres Act Imperative – fix your eyes on them, and pay close attention to their lives.  Are they consistent with Christ?  Are they easily identified with Christ?  Do they have success spiritually while striving for Christ?  

 Mark is the same Greek word in Phil. 3:14.  Christians were to press toward the mark, and mark them.  That is, the people we choose to follow should have the same goals that we have in Christ.

Identify those who walk righteously before God - our desire allows us to imitate.

2 Thess. 3:9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. 

Example: Elisha and Elijah.  2 Kings 2:1-12  

so as ye have us for an ensample. – tupoV - ensample” is refers to a figure formed by an impression, image or pattern.  Sometimes it is referred to as a mark or impression left by a blow of a hammer.  It also describes teaching which embodies the sum and qualities of a truth which affect the mind.
