The Mediator of The New Testament - Hebrews 9:15

"And for this cause" - Purpose of Christ’s death was to pay the price that the Law and Old Testament sacrifices could not pay. The Old Testament Law could not produce righteousness, but Christ’s voluntary sacrifice did provide a full atonement and a gift of Christ’s righteousness to the believer, making it possible to please God.

"He is the mediator" - mesithV - One who mediates between two people to bring peace. A mediator acts as a guarantee of something that is otherwise no obtained. Because of this Christ is the surety or guarantee of a better covenant. 8:6; 12:24

"of the new testament" - kainhV - A new kind, something that is unprecedented - Not new in time, but quality, of a different nature. This New Testament provided

A new commandment - A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. John 13:34

A new creation - Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Cor. 5:17

A new man - And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Eph. 4:24

A new name - He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it. Rev. 2:17

A new song - And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. Rev. 5:9-10

"That by means of death" - genomenou - Aor Midd Ptc - Lit. A death having taken place. This refers to the physical death of Christ at Calvary. Death is always used in the New Testament as a consequence of sin. Christ died as a result of man’s sin.

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: I Pet. 3:18

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; Rom. 3:35

For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly....But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Rom. 5:6,8

"For the redemption" - apolutrwsin - releasing on payment of a ransom, total deliverance from the guilt and power of sin. 9:12

"Of the transgressions that were under the first testament" parabasewn - to go beyond a set limit. His death allows man to be completely pardoned for over stepping of the law. Sin is the transgression of the law, and the Jews were continually guilty.

The Jews continually failed to meet the righteous qualifications and restrictions of the Law. In the same way that we would fail, if the Law was presented to us. The New Testament or covenant provided complete redemption, complete peace, and completely cleared man’s conscience. The redemption is absolute and completely unchangeable.

But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. Gal. 3:11

Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. Gal 3:21-22

"They which were called" - keklhmenoi - Perf Pass Ptc - Describes an action which is viewed as having been completed in the past, once and for all, not needing to be repeated. Notice also, that this calling has an ongoing nature. Once the call has been made, it extends in perpetuity.

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:44

And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. John 6:65

"Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: Romans 8:30

"That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory." 1 Thess 2:12

"Might receive the promise of eternal inheritance"

"For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus...for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Gal 3:26-29

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26:18

For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. Gal. 3:18

What is that Inheritance?

*That property in real estate that passes from father to son - John 14:1-3

*That position that is freely offered by the Father to the son - In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ."  Eph 1:11-12

"The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints," Eph 1:18

"...Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: Col 1:13

"Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ." Col 3:24

"To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." 1 Peter 1:4-5
