INTRODUCTION: The Nature of Christ VS The Nature of The Earth.
The Creative Nature of Christ and His
Eternal Nature (1:10) And, Thou, Lord, - this is the 6th quote from OT
(Ps. 102:26-28). The beginning of this phrase is in the emphatic. Psalm 102
pictures Messiah’s creative work and final triumph over all things.
in the beginning - from the
commencement, first day, initial movement in the creation of the world.
hast laid the foundation of the earth;
- Col. 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that
are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
and the heavens are the works of thine
hands: I Cor. 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom
are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all
things, and we by him.
Christ’s Unchangeable Character and
Nature - 1:11 They shall perish; - literal or figurative - destroy, die.
Matt. 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass
away.
2 Pet. 3:7,10 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are
kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of
ungodly men... But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the
which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall
melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be
burned up.
but thou remainest; -
diameneiV - the eternal existence of God's Son as
Creator and Preserver of the universe. Staying constantly, in contrast to all
that is temporary.
Isa. 51:6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath:
for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a
garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation
shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.
and they all shall wax old as doth a
garment - Future Passive - worn out, or declare obsolete: decay, make
old, in the same way as a garment (imation - apparel, cloke, clothes, garment,
raiment, robe).
“They” refers back to “foundation of the earth” and “the heavens.”
Christ’s Control Over His Creation
- 1:12 And as a vesture - something thrown around one: a mantle, veil, covering.
shalt thou fold them up, - Future
Active - coil, wrap, roll or folder upon itself.
and they shall be changed -
Future Passive - make different
but thou art the same,
and thy years shall not fail. - Future Active - Heb. 13:8 Jesus Christ the

Christ’s Authority Over The Angelic
Creation - 1:13-14 Quote from Psalm 110:1. This seventh quotation is
proof of the Son's superiority as the Son of God (his deity) to angels.

for them who shall be heirs of
salvation? - destined to inherit the salvation offered by the Lord
Himself.
James 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this
world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them
that love him?
Tit. 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to
the hope of eternal life.
Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with
Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified
together.
