“A Divine Purpose For Our Redemption” Heb. 1:9
Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity;

Introduction: Because Christ loves righteousness, he made provision for man, who was in iniquity and depraved. His desire to make man what He loves, is one reason for His death on the cross. He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD. Psalm 33:5

For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. Heb. 7:26-27

Christ Is Absolutely Holy and Perfect and Nothing in Creation Can Compare to That Holiness (1:4) Cf. Heb. 2:9

Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: Eph. 1:21

Christ Is Perfectly Holy and is Therefore Greater than All Created Beings (1:5) Cf. Quote from Psalm 2:7

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. Col. 1:18

Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him. I Pet. 3:22

Christ Alone is To Worshiped by His Creation (1:6-7)

And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. Rev. 5:11-12

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Phil 2:8-11

Christ As God Will Reign as King in Eternity (1:8)
Quote from Psalm 45:6-7; Heb. 3:3-4

Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. Ps. 145:13

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. Isa. 9:6-7

Christ Loves Righteousness and Therefore Brought Man to Righteousness (1:9) Cf. Psalm 45:7

Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.  Isaiah 45:21-22

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Prov. 8:13

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: Col. 2:10
