God Has Spoken, Hebrews 1:1-2

The infinite God manifested his love to the world, by giving a revelation of His greatness, His character, His compassion, His power, His wisdom and knowledge, and His very presence to mankind. God did this, preparing the way, over many generations, for the introduction of His own Son. Jesus, in the fulness of time, was manifest in the flesh that He might fulfill the vision and prophecy, supply all that was wanting in man, and freely give His life as a complete payment for sin.

The description which is given of Christ in Hebrews One shows His deity, His creative ability, His power, His compassion, and His suffering. In all these things He is exalted and worshiped by the angels, sits on His eternal throne at the right hand of the Father. From Him the angels receive their marching orders and are commanded to minister to the those who have been saved by the blood of Christ.

God - It is God! It is God! Not only God, but “the God.” The only living and true God of creation, who alone is infinite in power, knowledge and everywhere present.

Mankind’s inability to grasp the greatness of this statement, apart from the God’s revelation to them, makes it apparent that God’s ministry of compassion to mankind is to reveal Himself.

The words of Genesis reflect this truth, “In the beginning God...” In the garden of Eden the Lord sought out Adam and Eve, had wonderful fellowship with them, provided for them, and gave them His blessing.

Even after Adam and Eve sinned, God promised to provide a Savior to redeem their fallen race. At every juncture of human history God has revealed Himself.

First He revealed Himself in His creation. He revealed Himself through His presence in the garden, and subsequently revealed Himself through His Spirit, through the prophets to guide and direct Israel, and through His Son to provide eternal redemption for a lost world.

It is amazing to contemplate that the God of the universe would take such continuous steps to reveal Himself, His plan, and His purpose to mankind. This difficult to imagine, since mankind has continually rebelled against God’s greatness and compassion.

Still, God at various and definite times and many different ways lead and directed His people. He directed Abram and Moses through His spoken word to them. He declared His words through the prophets. He brought the enemies of Israel to their knees so that Israel would see that He is the One and only true God.

God spoke through Moses and pharaoh, “Let my people go.” Set them free. God has not changed. Either His still small voice or powerful written word repeats this truth, “the truth shall set you free.”

The Lord is still calling people to Himself; still demonstrating compassion; still communicating His Word to a lost world, through preachers of the Gospel.

The scripture speaks of willingness to die for the sin of the world, “No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father” (John 10:18).

Remember, no one can be redeemed unless the Lord calls that man, woman or child to Himself, “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father” (John 6:44-45).

God initiates salvation. It is God who calls men to himself. It is God who reveals the truth of the Gospel. It is God who desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.

It is obvious that God loves His creation; that He desires His creation to know Him; that He as God, will do and Has done all that is necessary to bring mankind to a full knowledge of salvation.

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us... I John 3:16

What is man’s response to God? What gratitude has mankind shown to the very person of God, who has revealed Himself through the person of Christ? Has man thrown himself at the feet of Christ to find the truth that God the Father has so wonderfully provided?

In general, mankind has rejected the compassionate truth that would set him free? How foolish man is, to think that infinite God of the universe would speak with man, and call him to repentance, and when man rejects the Son of God, that there would be no consequence to his action.

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 2 Thess. 2:10

God’s Compassion and Love Should Impel Man to Seek out God and His Truth

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. I John 3:1

God’s Power Should Cause Man to Be Humbled and Believe

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.  Heb. 10:31

God Sending His Son into the World to Make Provision for Man’s Salvation Should Challenge Us to Believe

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: Romans 8:3

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:17
