Things That Accompany Salvation
Hebrews 6:7-9

A DISTINCT COMPANY OF PEOPLE - “But, beloved” a contrast between the two groups of people described in Heb. 6:4-6.

A DEFINITE MANNER OF LIVING - “we are persuaded better things of you” - pepeismeqa - Perf Pass - induced to believe in someone or some thing.

And things that accompany salvation...” - ecomena - Pres Pass Ptc - to have hold or possession of something in your hand, used to describe the owner of property, household items, or joined to someone by contract, marriage, duty, etc.

What Things should accompany salvation?

*We Should Be Moving on in Our Spiritual Growth and Maturity

Eph. 4:15 “But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:”

2 Pet. 3:18 “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”

*We Should Have a Full Assurance of the Continuing Work of Christ in Our Lives.
Ps. 138:8 “the Lord will perfect that which concerneth me”
Eph. 2:10 “his workmanship created in Christ Jesus”

*We Should have a full realization of our complete Transformation in Christ

2 Cor. 5:17,21 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Cf. Eph. 2:10

*We Should understand the nature and character of the truth in Christ in our lives

For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Col. 1:9-10

*We Should Have Confidence in the Indwelling Holy Spirit - Not only in the initial work of salvation, but the continuing work of comfort, teaching, sustaining

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. I Cor. 12:13

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. Romans 8:9-10

*We Should Trust the Word of God Implicitly
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Rom. 10:17

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Eph. 6:17

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. I Thess. 2:13

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Prov. 30:5

It is obvious that certain things naturally accompany the lives of God’s people. The writer expects there to be a difference in their lives.

There Should Be A:
A desire to surrender daily to the Lord
A conscious awareness of the Lord’s presence
A growing necessity to submit to the control of the Spirit
A constant appetite for the Word of God
An eagerness to communicate with God in prayer
A need to have true fellowship with other believers

These important areas should be things that we grasp tightly and possess them as believers. These areas of spiritual living do not come naturally, because we are sinners.

But when they occupy our lives supernaturally by the grace of God they become a supernatural force and enhance the quality of life in Christ.

When there is no longer a need for these things our faith wains, we become lethargic or complacent in our Christian lives, we have a sense of emptiness and loss, no joy or power, and fail to trust the real provision and assurance that naturally flows from the hand of God.

The only effective means of continuous growth in our lives is complete trust in God and His Word. Jesus said, Search the scriptures, for they are they which testify of me.”
